How long until a positive?

Has anyone taken a while to test positive? Long story short one of my children tested positive on Saturday. We all then got negative PCRs the following day. I have felt ill since the evening of the PCR. Headache, aching, dog tired. Just generally rough. Have done lat flows every day since and still showing negative. Another one of my children had a positive lat flow yesterday and we are awaiting PCR result. We are all at home. I haven't sent anyone to school even if negative as none of us are feeling well. I had another PCR today and am awaiting results. I'll be amazed if I don't test positive. Anyone had this? Is it possible that I've not got covid and its just a coincidence. To add another child has exact symptoms as the two who have tested positive and he is still negative too.
Also what would you do if tests continue to be negative? Should I just isolate until ten full days after my symptoms started? This won't be a problem to do

A friend of mine caught covid from his DD on one of her last days of isolation, so yes, it’s possible to catch it any day. Wait till you get your results back and if positive, see what test and trace say about when to end your isolation period. If it comes back negative again and you still feel poorly, then I would still stay in.

Thank you. It's so difficult. Part of me feels bad for keeping my older child off all week but he has exact symptoms as the other 2 who are positive. They aren't cold type symptoms so not convinced it is anything else. I didn't want to send him in and risk passing it around
