If you have caught covid off a close contact (I'm talking contacts outside the home) what was the period of time between you having contact and showing symptoms or a positive pcr? If you caught it that is.

Dp has had very close contact with someone at work. The next day they've tested positive on a lft and now awaiting pcr results. His whole family have got symptoms and positive on a lft so likely his pcr will be positive too!

Dp will obviously get a pcr. What was the length of time between exposure and sunrooms for you?! I know it varies wildly and I know this has probably been asked so many times so I apologies. We've been fortunate enough to avoid covid and any isolation so far.

I'm concerned that if Dp gets a pcr and its negative within the first few days of exposure, he could still have it but incubating it and it was too soon to tell. Happened to a few people I know - negative pcr within a few days of contact but positive a few days after that - I know someone who wouldn't have known without a precautionary second test as she had no symptoms.

With earlier variants, it was typically 4-6 days (range 2-14)

Probably too soon to know if omicron is different

We went out on Sat eve, a friend who came out with us then found out on Sunday that people she had been with Thursday had tested positive, she fell ill and had positive LFT on Monday, DH felt ropey Tues evening and had a strong positive LFT Weds am, he is ill in bed, PCR not back yet. I feel rough but having daily negative LFT and have just had a negative PCR. Friend and her friends who were ill before her all well again now.
