Testing after Covid

I’m sorry, I know the answers will be somewhere but I couldn’t find a straightforward explanation on the NHS

My two younger DC had Covid in Oct/Nov, picked up via regular LFTs. They didn’t pass it to each other or us. Isolations all finished now.

The rest of us continue to test 2x weekly. Youngest’s now been a close contact of a friend at school.

I can’t work out:
(a) when we recommence LFTs for the Covid 2
(b) when close contacts need PCRs again after Covid (90 days?), and what to do if a close contact during that period

Thanks!

Don't test by LFT or PCR for 90 days unless they get symptoms

Thanks

I don’t know why I’d got it into my head it was more complicated than that Blush

Just bumping this as I’ve seen something on another thread which has me questioning - do we definitely not need to get PCR as close contact unless symptoms develop?

You don't test again within that 90 day window unless you have have symptoms. If track and trace contact you just explain the dates you had covid.

No retesting for 90 days was true UNTIL Omicron, but now you have to test as you would if you hadn’t had a prior infection.

Guidance now states:

“ If you have previously received a positive COVID-19 PCR test result, you are not usually advised to be re-tested within 90 days of this result. However, you should have a PCR test within 90 days of a previous positive PCR test if:

you develop any new symptoms of COVID-19
you are a close contact of someone who has been identified as a suspected or confirmed case of the Omicron variant of COVID-19
you are required to take a PCR test upon entry into the UK”

…which is under “Testing after your isolation period has ended” here:
