Covid - Rib Pain

yorkshirepudgf · 01/12/2021 05:45

I’m on day 4 since testing positive with Covid. So far I’ve had muscle pain, fever / chills, fatigue and a very slight sore throat. Throughout the night my rib cage has been really tender on both sides but I have no cough. Has anyone else experienced similar? Thanks

Anyone?

Hi! I didn’t exactly have this with covid, but when I had flu a few years ago I had terrible pain in my side/ribs, so think this is likely to be a normal part of the aches and pains. Don’t take my word for it though if you’re worried.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful. Hope you feel better soon.

yorkshirepudgf · 01/12/2021 07:31

Thanks. Probably is just part of muscle aches etc. They’re just very tender but no cough.

Sorry to hear that OP. I had a burning/tight feeling down my chest which apparently some people do experience with covid, but not specifically rib pain.
I think updating our symptom list is LONG overdue to be honest. Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you. I’ll take a look for the symptom list

Yes! Me! I am on day 2 (officially, suspect its longer) and i have pain kind of under my boobs on my ribs, both sides. Feels... Bruised? I wore a new bra on Monday and had to take it off mid way through day cos i thought it was that..

yorkshirepudgf · 01/12/2021 07:38

Yes that’s exactly how I feel. Tender and bruised both sides but no cough. Do you have a cough? Hope you feel better soon

No cough, not really. Scratchy throat and a bit hoarse, low level headache. Thought it was my booster! Hope you too feel well again soon x

Hi, I had the same quite early on in my Covid. No cough but sore ribs as though I’d pulled a muscle, also tightness in my chest - like it was being gripped too tight.
I’m on my last day of isolation and despite never getting a proper cough I still have tightness in my chest and reduced lung capacity on my out breath. I also have a really hoarse voice.
I’ve had so many symptoms over the last 10 days that are unusual, and only one of the typical ones (had an awful headache for days).

Mossstitch · 04/12/2021 16:46

I had this but only on the left side, very tender and could not wear a bra comfortably for ages...... Such a weird virus 😕

LittleSpyintheSky · 04/12/2021 17:37

Yes, I had rib pain - largely on my left side. It started in my lower back, went up the left side and into my left shoulder. I didn't have any of the typical covid symptoms except fever at the very beginning and not being able to breathe later on. I didn't lose my smell/taste and I only developed a cough due to the drying effect of the C-Pap mask. It really is a weird virus!

Hope you feel better soon OP.

FflosFfantastig · 04/12/2021 17:56

Yes I had a burning feeling at the bottom of my rib cage. I think it went in a few days though.

Spacecadetagain · 04/12/2021 19:04

I had terrible rib pain both sides .. I felt as though I’d been beaten up

FindingMeno · 04/12/2021 19:08

I had pain under my left breast.
I was a bit worried about it at one point.
I did have an increasingly bad cough though.

Snoods · 04/12/2021 19:31

After my second jab I had the same pain. Felt like someone had been punching me

Aspark659 · 27/03/2022 06:19

I googled "COVID rib pain" and ended up here and wanted to contribute my experience and solution with the hope it helps others. My pain got so bad I was losing sleep.

I called a teledoc who said it was a result of inflammation under the ribs and recommended ibuprofen (Advil). I also used a heat pad which helped.

Hope this helps some others.

I’ve had similar with covid. I’ve never had it before with any other virus, very weird. I found ibuprofen helped and I also used some arnica gel on the skin which seemed to help too.

20/12/2022. A week ago I thought I had sprained by lower right rib, as the week progressed the rib pain continued to get worse and I developed a runny nose and sore throat. I did a Covid test (I was sure it would be negative) BUT it was POSITIVE no other signs.
