What booster will I have?

Ceecee30 · 30/11/2021 20:26

Had first early due to being an unpaid carer. Ds is disabled and was sent a letter by gp to book it.

Booked my jab - I haven't had a reminder but it's been over 6 months and system let me book.

Booked for next week. I had Astra Zeneca first time around. I assumed I'd get Pfizer but someone I know has had Moderna. I literally only know 2 people who's had moderna before.

What side effects are expected?

I had AZ for my first two. I am group six as a somewhat but not extremely vulnerable person - an underlying condition.

I had my booster yesterday and it was Pfizer. Have felt pretty ill all day today, but everyone else I know who had this combo has been fine!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 30/11/2021 20:38

Won't you get whatever they have on the day and after doing this for a year now you must know that whether you have side effects is absolutely impossible to predict in advance

itsgettingwierd · 30/11/2021 20:39

I had pfeizer for 1 and 2.

Had my booster a few hours ago - moderna.

IIRC pfeizer and moderne are the same type of vaccine?

Dippydinosaurus · 30/11/2021 21:01

I've had astra zeneca (felt rough), astra zeneca (no side effects) then moderna last week with no side effects except a sore arm

FromTheAshes · 30/11/2021 21:07

My first two were AZ, no side effects at all apart from an incredibly sore arm for a week. My booster was moderna. My side effects were a tender arm for three days, a headache for a day or two and some very mild body ache that I easily worked through. A couple of paracetamol had everything under control.

My mum had 2xAZ followed by pfizer. She got a headache, aches and tiredness for a day or so but other than that no issues at all.

BayandBlonde · 30/11/2021 21:10

My mums first two jabs was AZ, she had the Pfizer booster on Saturday. Waited 15 minutes before they let her leave, then she passed out and has felt rough since

Sportsnight · 30/11/2021 21:17

AZ then Pfizer and absolutely fine. I was expecting worse. My arm was very sore though.

gluteustothemaximus · 30/11/2021 21:23

At work a mix of AZ and Pfizer, but all boosters so far have been moderna. All have been off very ill with side effects.

Fastforwardtospring · 30/11/2021 21:27

AZ 1st & 2nd, Moderna as a booster, felt really awful following day with a very sore arm, felt lots better by next day. So a day of feeling pants, think I will always try and aim for a Friday/Saturday appt next time as even though I WFH it was a struggle to get through the day.

521Jeanie · 30/11/2021 21:29

I had a Moderna booster after 2xAZ and a sore arm for 48hours was my only side effect.

PAFMO · 30/11/2021 21:31

2 X AZ, Pfizer booster on Sunday. Sore arm only this time. Headache after AZ2

LeuvenMan · 30/11/2021 21:31

Our house has its own mini RCT
My wife had Astra for her first 2, then a Pfizer booster. She had flu like symptoms (24 hours) and a sore arm (48 hours)
I had Pfizer for my first 2 and a Moderna booster. Mild flu like symptoms for 24 hours.

olivo · 30/11/2021 21:34

aZ for my first two, I'll for about 4 days after the first. Pfizer for my booster and no side effects, even arm barely sore

chipsandpeas · 30/11/2021 21:35

i had AZ for my first 2 and moderna for my booster

Blooeyes · 30/11/2021 21:36

I had AZ then Pfizer. Awful side effects after first AZ. Just a headache after the booster.

Rockbird · 30/11/2021 21:43

AZ x2 then Pfizer. Only side effect with any of them was tiredness and that was worse with AZ.

ContadoraExplorer · 30/11/2021 22:02

I had Moderna 1 & 2, not had booster yet, only just fell into the category due to the changes announced. Second one I felt awful for a day afterwards but I didn't drink as much water the day of the jag or take paracetamol until I woke up feeling crap so it's probably partly my own fault. DH had the same and he felt like he had a mild hangover when he woke but was fine to function that day I causing taking DD swimming.

ContadoraExplorer · 30/11/2021 22:03

*including taking DD swimming

Niki14 · 30/11/2021 22:20

I've had 3x Pfizer sore arm for 24 hours for all 3, with the addition of swollen lymph nodes for a day on the 3rd dose. I was in the gym the morning after so it wasn't sore enough to stop me working out! DH had 2x AZ followed by Moderna and had a sore arm for 24-48 hours for all 3 of them and a headache for the AZ ones. Nothing spectacular just what I'd expect with any vaccine.

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 30/11/2021 23:18

I had 2xAZ followed by Moderna booster. Absolutely fine after the first two and absolutely floored by the booster, in bed for 3 days barely able to stand.

DrWhoNowww · 30/11/2021 23:28

If you google “grab a jab” then click the first link - which should be to the NHS walk in vaccination clinic finder.

You can put your post code in and it will show you the local walk-in clinic and what vaccines they’re offering.

Most of the walk-ins also do booked vaccines so you should be able to find the one your booked for and see what they might have.

MrsSkylerWhite · 30/11/2021 23:30

Husband (CEV) and I had 2 AZ then Moderna booster. No side effects at all.

greenlynx · 30/11/2021 23:43

I’ve had 2xAZ and Moderna for booster.
After AZ I felt a bit like cold next day: tired, achy. After Moderna I also felt tired, achy and sleepy but less.

itsgettingwierd · 01/12/2021 19:45

I can announce that after my moderna booster last night (pfeizer first doses) I have nothing more than arm pain and a great huge blue bruise as a giveaway!

No side effects at all. Not even a need for a paracetamol.
