Anxiety over the new variant

Hi, I am generally anxious anyway and think I might have it. But all the news of this new variant has landed with me crying my eyes out at the dining table working from home this morning at the thought of not being able to spend Christmas with my family for the 2nd year. Is anyone else so fed up. If it happens I get the feeling I might be spending Boxing Day on the sofa crying...

Right now, we don't know what sort of disease the new variant produces. It could be worse, much the same, or milder. Unless it's the first, then most things will be up and running, though I dare say masks will remain mandated (to take the edge off transmission rates - even a milder version could still fill hospitals if case number really rocket)

So get vaccinated, wear a mask indoors public places, don't get up close to people when you don't need to, ventilate your home when you have guests.

It could get bumpy, but there is no reason at present to expect the worst

@camelliaflower where do your family live? No one can actually stop you seeing them

A lot of people will carry on regardless of what they say
