I think there was a thread recently but I’ve been unable to find it.
My DF is in a care home & is in the final stage of his condition (although we are unsure how long he has as he hasn’t seen a consultant in person or via telephone for a year).
It’s a 4 hr round trip to see him.
I know we are in a pandemic but we are absolutely desperate to see him & touch him.
We are allowed a half hour visit in a ‘pod’ ( a room) behind a screen.
One of my siblings is deemed a primary career so had been allowed to his room to feed him as he isn’t being fed & has lost 2 stone in weight in 10 weeks.
She hasn’t been allowed to see him for 2 weeks because there is Covid in the home & obviously our visits have been cancelled.
We are so worried about him.
Even without the weight loss concerns the room & screen just seems inhumane.
The CH manager said they are following PHE guidance when I questioned it.
So what are other CH allowing ?
I really feel i’ll not be able to give him a hug before he dies.
I know this isn’t a new thing in CH & I’m sorry for anyone who lost loved ones during this pandemic but I thought CH had moved on ? The pod room was obviously before the new variant.
We also have to do a LFT on the day (which I understand).
