Acid reflux or chest burning?

I did a lateral flow last Thursday which was positive, confirmed by PCR on Friday. I didn't have any symptoms at first but felt very unwell by Thursday night with fever, shaking, etc.

Now it feels like a bad cold and cough, but I'm also getting a burning feeling. To me it feels like heartburn or acid reflux, but I get it almost constantly even without eating or drinking. Is this a strange Covid side effect, or it is more likely it is my lungs and I'm mistaking the sensation?

Have got more gaviscon on the way anyway - thank goodness for online chemists!

I've had Covid twice in the past month and suffered from heartburn both times.

Interested to read these experiences. My 8yo had hideous reflux as a baby but only diagnosed as a toddler (long story). He started on Omeprazole etc and was eventually weaned off it just before he turned 7 and was largely deemed to have recovered. He got covid over Christmas and was largely fine, but started getting gastro symptoms towards the end of his isolation. He started complaining of a burning chest about a month ago, and in the before half term started vomiting up acid uncontrollably, with some blood too. We were sent to a&e where the Dr said he had obviously had a relapse of his reflux and thought that it could well have been started by covid. He’s now fully back on Omeprazole and struggling a bit with meals and heartburn, awaiting a consultant’s appt. Interested to read that he’s not alone in this. I’m hoping it’ll calm down a bit soon.
