Need some advice please as first time we have had a positive case in the house
Took my son for a PCR on Sat morning. He was feeling fine at time of the test and I took him as 2 close friends had positives on the Thursday and Friday. Had been doing lat flows on us all all week and all negatives
Took him for the test on Sat morning and by bedtime on the evening he was complaining of a headache. Positive result came through early Sunday morning. We all tested on Sunday morning and all have neg PCRs and will be doing daily lat flows, also all negative so far
From what I have read he needs to isolate for ten full days after the day of his test so I had worked out he could go back to school on the 8th.
However his friends mum went for a PCR on the Friday so the day before my son (she went without symptoms and because her son had tested positive) and she was sent an email asking for track and trace details and the email says her last day of isolation is the 5th, so this is ten days including the day of the test. If I follow this guidance he can go back on the 7th??
I know it's only a day but I am trying to just be clear as need to sort out work around him and his siblings being off school/nursery

I think it's the 8th.

My son tested positive on Saturday also. He is allowed out of isolation on 8th. Isolation is 10 full days after the positive.

It’s from day of symptoms or day of test but you don’t include that so 10 full days , the 7th is last day of isolation if Saturday was the pcr test . If your friend had test on Friday hers is the 6th she’s including the actual day of test as day 1 but you don’t count that day unless you’ve already started isolating as have symptoms.

If he has symptoms then it's from the day symptoms started, so if he was unwell on the Friday but then tested on sat then the isolation count starts on the Friday. If no symptoms then from date of test.

Thanks everyone. I think it is the 8th then. It is strange though as she said she selected no symptoms when she booked her PCR and it definitely says her last full day of isolation is the 5th as I have seen the email
Also has anyone had any contact when their child has tested positive? I was expecting a follow up email or text but have had nothing at all

DD1 tested positive yesterday after developing a cough that morning. She'd been having mild cold symptoms since Friday but TTP told me on the phone when they contacted us to go through her movements that they take the onset of the cough as the first day not the congested nose so she has to isolate until late on Wednesday 8th and hopefully back in school on Thursday 9th. Utter buggering timing as she's meant to be doing mock GCSEs this week!
