Priority postboxes & weekends

We're waiting for test results from a home tested which we put in the nearest priority postbox on Saturday. Do priority postboxes actually get emptied at weekends? They wouldn't usually. Just wondering if we should go to our nearest test centre and get an in person test.

www.royalmail.com/priority-postboxes - yes, they collect over the weekends. If you kept a note of the tracking number on your test you can put it in to the royal mail tracking site and see where it is.

We posted a test on Saturday and are still waiting for the result. It was definitely collected from the post box and arrived at the lab on Saturday night.
I’m wondering whether there’s a delay at the lab - case rates are high in our area, so the sheer volume of tests might be a problem.

Have you registered your test?

That was the step I missed when I did a postal test.

Cacee3029 · 29/11/2021 18:21

You can find out the collection times from priority boxes are online. They have extra collections throughout the weekend.

Anyone know if there’s a way to check that a test was registered properly? I definitely went through the process on my phone, but now I’m worried I missed a final click or something and something’s gone wrong.

RachC2021 · 29/11/2021 18:51

They should do. I suspect one of mine wasn’t picked up over the weekend as tracking didn’t show movement until the Monday.

Carrotte · 29/11/2021 18:52

Yes.

You can phone 119, but they ask you to wait a few days before calling - I can't remember how many
inflatableseahorses · 29/11/2021 21:58

It's now.5 days before you can chase results. Which is madness as, if we need to take another one, we may actually test negative by then.

Did you still get your results without registering? I stupidly sent mine off today and forgot to register it

DanceDanceDance80 · 03/12/2021 23:04

Sorry that was for @123ZYX

No you wont. Ring 119 with the barcode of the test which will be on the instruction booklet.

Also you can chase after 3 days, contrary to a PP. 72 hours to be exact.

PrpleRain · 04/12/2021 05:52

I don’t know if it’s the same with covid Tests but I am pretty sure that it says on the instruction attached to antibody tests to not post samples on Saturday because it might cause delays.
