Do the results for PCR tests conducted on a Sunday at a drivethrough site come back sooner/later/about as quickly as ones conducted on a weekday, in your experience?

We had some done at 11am and not heard a peep yet. They do say you may need three days for a result.

anxiousstanley · 28/11/2021 19:30

I had a Sunday pcr at 2pm. Came back at 5.30pm on Monday. It feels like an eternity.

ThirdElephant · 28/11/2021 19:36

I've got a meeting at 10 tomorrow morning- prep for it has to be done on site from 9 a.m. PCR was at 14:30 today, and our previous tests have been back before half 9 regardless of when we have had them done (one particularly impressive one was taken at 16:30 and returned by 07:45), so I am considering driving to my meeting (an hour away) and sitting in the car to await the result so I'm on-site when it comes in. Pretty sure it'll be negative as all LFTs are reading negative. BUT I don't want to be sitting there all day if the fact it was done on a Sunday slows results down.

It was only 16 hours last Sunday for a household member.

IfIknewyouwerecomingidhavebake · 28/11/2021 19:45

It was 25 hours for me (test 9am yesterday and received the result at 10am today) obviously not answering your question as it wasn’t a Sunday test. My lateral flow was negative but my PCR was positive Hmm

LivingInABuildingSite · 28/11/2021 19:45

Dd and I had ours today - precautionary really, both have a cold but have had some kind of exposure to positive people recently.

Really wanted the results back before she has to go to school tomorrow, she’s missed so much. Tomorrow for me doesn’t matter but have a governors meeting at a special needs school on Tuesday so need to know before then,

LivingInABuildingSite · 28/11/2021 19:47

What time did you hand yours in?
We left the site about 12.30.

WhenZoomWasJustAnIceLolly · 28/11/2021 19:51

Ours have normally been back within 18 hours but had one randomly that took 3 days midweek. Hasn’t been any slower on a Sunday ime but think driving there and waiting is 50/50 whether it will be back

happytoday73 · 28/11/2021 19:57

Few weeks ago when our area was very high... Test at 7pm sunday.. Results at 10.30 next morning

santabetterwashhishands · 28/11/2021 20:11

12 hours for my daughter when done on a Sunday

Daisy829 · 28/11/2021 20:14

My DH had one at 9.30am today. Previous results have turned up early hours of the morning so I’m hoping for the same with his.

Carrotte · 28/11/2021 20:19

I find Saturday ones are usually back by Sunday night if that helps anyone

Our results have just come in. 13 hours. Negative thankfully

LivingInABuildingSite · 28/11/2021 22:24

Phew. Hope ours come in overnight.

crackofdoom · 28/11/2021 22:27

thirdelephant We, too, handed ours in at 14.30- and were told 24- 48hrs! Which I genuinely didn't expect- I was hoping DS2 would be able to go to school tomorrow, if negative.

So....the race is on!

You shouldn’t be driving anywhere if your waiting for the results of a PCR (assuming it’s due to symptoms and not as a close contact).
Oatsamazing · 28/11/2021 22:31

Did a test last week and 10.30, got a text with results on Monday at 9.05

Daisy829 · 28/11/2021 22:40

Check your emails too. They tend to come in quicker on email than text. Fingers crossed for you all x

ThirdElephant · 29/11/2021 05:54

Negative! 5 a.m. this morning.

They're getting really quick, aren't they?

Annabelll · 29/11/2021 06:11

LivingInABuildingSite · 29/11/2021 08:11

Still waiting here.
No school (yet) for DD. Will drop her in as soon as I get negative results (hopeful!).

stepbackfromthecircles · 29/11/2021 08:41

We are still waiting too.

crackofdoom · 29/11/2021 10:37

Just woke up to 3 positive results ☹️ Not surprising for me- I feel shit today- and DS1 is still feeling pretty meh, but 6 year old DS2 is perfectly healthy and bouncing off the walls. Not the ideal configuration….🤦
