How many people do you know who have had it twice?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/11/2021 12:03

I don't know anyone who's had it twice.

Loveatortie · 28/11/2021 12:04

3, all double vaccinated the 2nd time they caught it.

mum2jakie · 28/11/2021 12:47

One - my other half just tested positive for second time. He had his booster a month ago too!

IsolateAndTestAgain · 28/11/2021 12:53

Several of the children in DDs class have had it 2-3 times, one girl has just tested positive again only 4 months after testing positive.

elQuintoConyo · 28/11/2021 12:54

Crikey, I only know a handful of people who've had it once!

RestingStitchFace · 28/11/2021 12:58

A handful of folks at most...
That said, I still think some caution is needed. The amount of people who refuse to wear masks on train etc appalls me.

@IsolateAndTestAgain

Wow!!

DS has just tested positive again after 11 months and vaccinated. First one I'd heard of!

We only know the people who've had symptoms/tested at the right time.

Loads of people must have had it without realising, especially last year when testing was so rationed.

I reckon I've had it twice (one confirmed), the second when fully vaccinated.

IsolateAndTestAgain · 28/11/2021 13:45

@sofakingcool I know I was surprised, it's a Year 3 class so 7 and 8 year olds not sure if that makes a difference, none of the children will be vaccinated so might be why it's so rife.

theemperorhasnoclothes · 28/11/2021 13:52

I know 12 people (people I know well) who've definitely had it twice, and a few who think they have but the first time weren't tested so it's not proved. Among these are two families of 4 who've all had it twice and all caught it both times - parents fully vaccinated.

All people I know who've had it twice are either students in school / university or families with students in one of these. One of the families has a uni student within it and they say loads of their fellow students have had it twice by now.

Whyarewehardofthinking · 28/11/2021 13:54

DP and I. Both teachers, had it in February and he was very ill. Both double vaccinated when we got it again (me first this time). DD1 caught it the first time with us, DD2 the second time.

We both have students with their second infection, same with colleagues.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 28/11/2021 14:05

Yes my DD had first version when she first went to uni and then second version as well, different symptoms each time

Mistlewoeandwhine · 28/11/2021 14:08

My family of 4. We had it in 2020 and again this year. DH and I had one Pfizer each, kids had nothing. DS had it very badly in 2020 (14, no underlying health conditions and was nearly hospitalised with it). This year it was much milder for him. DH had it about the same but fewer long side effects. I had it worse and youngest child had symptoms this year (but was ok) but in 2020 he had none.

julieca · 28/11/2021 14:14

Yes quite a few people. But then I am fairly poor so most of my friends worked with people throughout this pandemic.

DemBonesDemBones · 28/11/2021 14:21

I was hospitalised with it in May 2020 and I've just had it again. I wouldn't have known I had it this time!

Porfre · 28/11/2021 15:21

No one that I know personally. But know of a few that are a friend of a friend

Myotherusernameisshy · 28/11/2021 15:40

Lots, more than 15 off the top of my head. Almost all have come home from contact at secondary school and then spread through the family for the second infection.

nordica · 28/11/2021 15:44

One person who thinks she's had it twice but the first time was early on before testing was widely available so she was never tested. The second time she had a positive test and has developed long covid.

Beekindbeehumble · 28/11/2021 15:46

One person.

TheChip · 28/11/2021 15:49

I still don't know anyone who has even had it once!
I've got two in secondary school and one in comp.
My youngest sons friend apparently has it, but I know he and dad were both trying to fake tests in order to stay off.
I know this because ds was gutted when his test came back negative and he said "doesn't orange juice make a false positive" when I asked why he admitted he had downed loads of it before the test. His face dropped when I told him that won't work now that they're nose swabs only 😂
I'm guessing his friend has jinxed himself or is using an older kind of test.

TheChip · 28/11/2021 15:49

He and ds, not he and dad!

SingingSands · 28/11/2021 17:38

Only one person - my DD. Had second case 11 months after first.

sofakingcool · 28/11/2021 17:59

Has anyone known any who have had it in quick succession?

So DS had it 5 weeks ago, unvaccinated due to age (missed school vaccine due to having Covid!). Rest of household now has it - what's the chance of him getting it again?

Reason asking, just had a slightly stroppy conversation with someone who thinks it's wrong for DS to be out socialising (playing outdoors) risking others. We felt it was very unlikely he'd catch it again this soon, but feeling wrong now.

What's peoples feeling on that?

WarriorN · 28/11/2021 18:01

I know someone who has had it 3 times.

Has a form of mild long Covid from first infection.

WarriorN · 28/11/2021 18:01

Works in a primary chool.
