Question about isolation

My daughter had a positive LF on 16th - followed up by positive PCR and track/trace said she has to isolate until 26th.

Her brother has had a temperature on and off and random tummy pains since 19th. He has been consistently negative on LF and 2 PCRs. Until last night - he came up positive on LF and doing PCR later today.

If PCR positive does he isolate from last night when it showed up on LF or do we say his symptoms started on 19th so 10 days from then? Could he have had some other cold/bug and has just got covid or can he have had it that long without it showing up?

Just to add he has been isolating all along anyway as couldn't get him to school - childminder wouldn't take him and I couldn't leave house as daughter isolating.

I would say he wasn't symptomatic for covid on the 19th but something else and now has covid.

Thanks for replying. Yeah that what I was thinking - I just really wanted to get them both back to school on Monday!

I think given the negative PCRs, you wont be able to backdate the symptoms to before the latest PCR.

Thanks you. So will it be ten days from yesterday- when he had the positive LF?
