@VladmirsPoutine

I think we will go back to some form of lockdown like we see some of Europe doing, of course being Brits we will be among the last to do so meaning there will be inevitably be a greater loss of life and harsher restrictions.
I completely disagree with you.
RonaLisa · 26/11/2021 19:13

So this new variant ... is of no more interest to me than all the other variants.

It's a complete load of scaremongering bollocks.

User135644 · 26/11/2021 19:15

Christmas is cancelled.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/11/2021 19:20

'Scaremongering bollocks' is exactly why we had among the worst death rate in Europe, locked down too late, cocked up PPE and a host of other catastrophes. People genuinely thinking wearing masks was an infringement on their civil liberties. All I can say is heaven help us because we certainly can't help ourselves Hmm

AlwaysLatte · 26/11/2021 19:22

I think restrictions are likely, maybe even a lockdown, but I'd rather it was done quickly, rather than let the thing loose too much first like last time. Govt were so dozy at first and really let it get a hold.

MarshaBradyo · 26/11/2021 19:22

worst death rate in Europe

This isn’t correct

VladmirsPoutine · 26/11/2021 19:26

@MarshaBradyo Is that what I wrote?

Copy and paste so yes

If you mean not the worst but below others just say that.

Thank you for this.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/11/2021 19:38

@MarshaBradyo I said what I said. That you can't understand it or know how to copy and paste is really nothing to do with what I wrote.

lol Ok

Keep going with the worst lists if it makes you feel better

Naughtynovembertree · 26/11/2021 19:40

I think to be on the safe side anyway masks should be made compulsory again. It's so easy to do.
Masks and every space with a window should have at least one window open and door.
People who get cold should wear warm clothes, thermal tights... Or a cheap hot water water bottle etc rather than just sit there saying how cold they are without doing a single solitary thing to keep warm except closing the window.

CallmeHendricks · 26/11/2021 19:44

@MarshaBradyo, "Selectively" copied and pasted.

The pp said "among" the worst in Europe.

Yep with all the others up there.

Not mentioned that often funnily enough.

Anyway glad you contributed.

CallmeHendricks · 26/11/2021 19:57

Marsha, I know you're the self-appointed "expert" on minimising Covid on here, but you really are not in charge of who contributes to threads.

You really don't have to be quite so unpleasant.

Er no I don’t minimise the most on here by a long shot Hmm

And have never said I’m an expert just posting what I think like anyone else

However you saying that is an insult

I’d say the same about you actually. Unpleasant

MummyPop00 · 26/11/2021 20:08

I'm not bothered anymore, we all die one day so fuck it if my time comes sooner so be it but I'd rather live my life to the fullest every day then just exist so I can live longer

Same here, totally past caring now. Covid, do your worst etc. Like being on a fecking Hamster Wheel.

And yet here you are, participating in a Covid thread. Surely if you don't care and are just going to ignore you would be hiding this topic??

Madmog · 26/11/2021 20:26

I live in the here and now. We're having a meal tomorrow without my very much loved elderly DU and DA and their DIL. My DU spent four months fighting for his life and recovering after catching covid xmas 2020 and DIL is about to go through chemo and radiotherapy.

On the other side, my DD is on a year abroad with uni, only has a residence permit. She has to complete a year of in person lectures for it to count, so I realise in reality she won't risk coming home for xmas as she might not be able to get back. We will make the most of whatever xmas we have, I'm working boxing day and DH will be oncall 48 hours sometime 21-25th Dec.

The decision to put the country through the last two lockdowns and constant restrictions have had a disproportionate impact upon certain groups. I feel sorry for the old and vulnerable but these actions have created a new group of vunerable - many children and teenager have suffered with isolation. If the new variant is as some suggest a massive threat then I think life needs to carry on for the bulk of the population we cannot sacrifice the younger generation. This is not a callous view it is one that believes in living life and in the quality of life - we can't go on locking down and waiting letting life pass people by.

This is a message that has got wildly misinterpreted.

Lockdown & associated policies wasn't just to protect the elderly/clinically vulnerable. To be quite frank, if it had been, I doubt Johnson and co would have bothered implementing anything.

Heyvedge · 26/11/2021 20:58

Papers are salivating over this, especially as they will be able to shoehorn Christmas into their headlines.

Tealightsandd · 26/11/2021 20:58

but these actions have created a new group of vunerable - many children and teenager have .....

.... suffered premature bereavement and/or become carers to their Long COVID suffering parent and/or developed Long COVID themselves.

Oh so much concern for young people and children's education from the eugenics lite Us For Them types...when it comes Other People dying (including many non COVID patients due to full hospitals and dead/ill HCP).

Funny how silent they've been over the past years during austerity and one of its worse consequences - the public health housing emergency.

Homelessmess and housing insecurity has far more long term and devastating impact on children's life chances and education than does temporary pandemic measures.

This.

Except to the extent that the vulnerable comprise such a huge proportion of our workforce - including HCP and other essential workers.

The terrible tragedy yesterday. 27 migrants drowned. The message across the media, politicians, and social media was "not dead migrants, but dead humans". Likewise the dead elderly and vulnerable. Not 170,000+ dead Vulnerable. 170,000+ dead humans.
