When will he test negative?

Morning. My 10 year old tested positive (dark immediate line) on lateral flow last Friday. Positive pcr sat morning.
He had symptoms from last Wednesday so today he is 9 days on from symptoms or 7 days on from positive test. I've done another lateral flow on him this morning and it's still a positive dark line.
He is due back to school on Monday. I've heard you can carry on testing positive for 90 days but read alot on here about people testing negative on lateral flows after only a few days of infection. I will test him again on Sunday, but will he still be able to go to school on Monday if it's still a dark positive?

Why are you still testing him? You don’t need to. You can send him back once isolation is over and his primary symptoms are resolved, I would think. But ask the proper channels!

Please have a read of the guidance. It answers these questions.

I was told by Test and Trace not to test at all for 90 days after the PCR (it was a bit of a pain as we had do LTFs for travelling abroad).

According to the guidance first day of symptoms is day 0, then 10 days isolation.

I was testing negative on a lat flow within 2 weeks of first symptoms.

It can vary significantly how long someone may show up as positive still on a test afterwards- this is due to viral shedding and does not mean someone is still infectious. Please stop testing. If your son does not have a fever and seems well enough to return to school after the10 days he is is fine to do so.

Test and trace told me not to test again and after the 10 days isolation I can go back to normal unless I still have a fever.

He can return to school after 10 days if he is well enough.
No need to test again for 90 days

Thank you. He's never had a fever he actually didn't have any of the 3 main symptoms. We only tested because his best friend tested positive. He's had lack of appetite and felt nausesus and a headache. Slightly stuffy nose.
Im CEV so have kept my distance and wore as mask if I need to go in his room etc. Just want to be able to cuddle him Sad luckily he seems to have enjoyed being off, chilling out and playing on the PlayStation lol
