False negative pcr?

I know other viruses are available. We’ve already had many this year. I did a pcr on Monday due to cough and temp. It came back positive but I’ve never had such a strange cough. Cough mostly happens when moving from laying down to sitting up, although randomly lots on an evening when up right. Im cough to the extent I’m gasping for breath, feeling like vomiting and now I feel as if I have a heavy weight sitting on my chest. Has anyone else experienced this?

Do you mean it came back negative? 30% of PCR negatives are false. Have you tried doing a LFT?

That sounds a lot like whooping cough. I'd be tempted to get a GP appointment to discuss, as antibiotics can be beneficial whilst you're still infectious. Definitely call 111 if the heavy weight on the chest feeling gets any worse.

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

I haven’t LFT since Monday. I did wonder about whopping cough but I dismissed because I was vaccinated in 2019 and 2016. I will have a read up on it.
