Moderna vs Pfizer booster

After AZ (and covid). I am sure I’ve read that Moderna more effective - anyone know? But also maybe more side effects? Thanks

Whichever you can get is the best booster, especially after az. They’ll both massively increase your protection.

Anecdotally it’s harder to find centres doing Moderna.

I had my booster this morning. I had AZ for my first two, was advised I would be getting Pfizer today. While I was stood in the queue, which was next to the booking desk, the chap next to me was told he was getting Moderna. I wonder how they decide?

Thanks yes local one offering moderna it hence question. I’m not in a desperate hurry as had covid in October but was wondering as moderna not normally an option round here ….

The difference for an individual will be negligible. Just take whatever is going.

I had Pfizer for my first two and moderna as booster. Was told that a different booster is preferable as it gives greater protection. I only had a bad headache and felt a bit meh with moderna, 2nd dose of Pfizer knocked me out for 2 days. Everyone reacts differently though.

Was told at the vaccine centre that AZ followed by Pfizer is the best combination.

I'm not sure of the exact figures but 3 Pfizer's is something like 94% protection against symptomatic infections vs 93.5 for AZ x 2 plus Pfizer. In other words no real difference. Not sure there's any data yet on 2 AZ plus Moderna (I may well be wrong) but you'd expect it to be similar.
