Do people think that this will happen? Now that they’ve opened it up to 16-17 year olds to have a second one…

Yes, probably next month.

Well they have to wait 12 weeks between catching covid and getting vaccinated so I suspect the time between doses may well change. So they may not get them for a while.

its 12 weeks between covid and 1st dose

second doses for 16/17 year olds are 12 weeks after 1st so i expect similar gap for 12-15

Yes I think it will eventually. The NHS pamphlet simply states that the timing of the second dose will be confirmed “later”. They cannot stop whole families travelling as double vaccines are the norm for this age group in other countries.
However, this age group is not currently a priority given the state of the NHS. So the vulnerable, elderly, 40 plus etc need to be jabbed with boosters/3rd jabs first.
There is also the issue that a lot of this age group are getting wild Covid right now and have been for the last few months. So for many, it will be almost like a 3rd dose. Query if that could increase the risk of side effects including the rare more worrying ones.
