Isolating whilst waiting on test results

I am 5 weeks post covid, as is DS1. DS2 isolated with us anyway due to logistics but had negative PCR at start and some negative LTFs for a few days. But never confirmed positive and no symptoms.

Husband and DS2 developed a cough over the weekend. So off they went for a PCR. We’re in Scotland, so rules state while household isolates until results come back.

Given myself and DS1 have had covid, he’s under 18, I’m double vaxed. Why would we have to isolate whilst waiting? We aren't supposed to get tested for 90 days so why do I need to keep DS1 off school then just send him back tomorrow regardless of the result. Am I missing something?

I’m not in Scotland but the rules in England were that any cases that developed after the initial ten day isolation period should be treated as a new isolation period.

Tbh I would ask the school as my first port of call.
