Covid and periods

Good morning.
I'm getting a bit concerned at where my period has got to. I'm now 6 days late, is there any research to suggest that your cycles get longer or change in anyway. Im day 6 into covid and still not feeling great. Just wondering if this has happened to anybody else or I should infact take a test? TIA x

I started a thread on this a couple of months ago when I too missed a period due to Covid. I am 48, but have been as regular as clockwork. No signs of perimenopause/menopause ever.

My cycle has since resumed. I've always had fairly lighf painless petiods, but had cramps this time weirdly.

My periods were messed up for more than a year after having COVID. I had them irregularly for ages then for about 8 months I had my period every 14 or 15 days. The vaccines also messed my cycle around.

Apparently it's pretty common amongst long covid sufferers. I was under the care of a long COVID clinic for 15 months and whenever they saw me the consultants were keen to record changes to menstruation.

Thank you both for your replies. I'm also very regular with a 28-30 day cycle every single month.

Oh I hope that's not the case for me @Throughabushbackwards that sounds awful. The vaccines haven't messed mine up so far so hopefully I can just put it down to having covid. Was fully preparing myself to have a shit week after positive pcr and then thinking my period due any time. But it's not happened

This is interesting, I am 2 years into my second mirena coil, past the first few months have had no breakthrough bleeding, not even at the changeover.

I had breakthrough bleeding after both jabs and when dd had covid. I didn't get catch it from her but I definitely felt like I was fighting something off.

Anecdotally friends mentioned menstruation changes after jabs too.

I absolutely think covid affects menstruation. Im glad medical peeps are asking about it and are interested in it.

@Underparmummy how very strange for you. Yes I'm glad they are noting it all. Seems to have many long term effects and some that you don't even think about at all until it happens.

Glad you didn't contract covid from your DD. I seem to have passed it onto my DD but DS has avoided it so far.

It's very common for periods to be affected during illness, not just covid

I'm guessing you've ruled out pregnancy?
