Does anyone know the answer to this?

Nothing happens. No one checks.

Remmy123 · 21/11/2021 07:54

Nothing happens at all

EileenGC · 21/11/2021 07:55

First of all, LFTs are now accepted so it doesn’t necessarily have to be a PCR. They’re also cheaper.

Second of all, no one checks. I’ve sent off some, didn’t get to with others, have uploaded LFTs and either got or didn’t get a confirmation email after. Nothing happens either way.

You basically just need the code you buy for the PLF flying in. That’s it.

Absolutely nothing- they are just a way of making you pay a bit more. No one checks or cares once you get home.

So you can do lateral flows now? Do they have barcodes on them? Does that mean you can get a friend to buy one for you and send you the code and you can put that on your form when coming in?

They have to be bought from the government approved sellers list on the gov.uk website. The cheapest I could find are around £14 a piece. They email you the codes when you order them.

Yes, they have a barcode and come with instructions on how to upload the result to the testing company’s website.

Does anyone know if I can use a day 2 test that I bought in September for a trip that didn’t go ahead… can I use it now for a trip in December? Or are the tests somehow linked to specific dates?

EileenGC · 21/11/2021 09:01

I know people who have reused codes even after actually doing the initial test, so I’d say it’s possible. I doubt they check anything but I obviously can’t guarantee this.

Yes you can. I'm flying home later using a code from a day 2 PCR test which didn't get used a couple of months ago.
Schulte · 21/11/2021 09:57

Fabulous, thank you!

SagittariusDwarf · 22/11/2021 00:01

Just to update - I got back home earlier today. No problem at all with re-using the code from a PCR test which was bought for a day 2 test a while ago and didn't end up getting used.

Where can you order £14 tests?

alienbaby · 22/11/2021 05:28

You can only order £14 tests to your house before you leave apparently 🙄

EileenGC · 22/11/2021 08:47

I’ve always ordered them whilst abroad, the day or so before flying back. Who’s said it has to be before you leave?

I usually use NWP, they’ve been great and very quick.

Lostinacloud · 22/11/2021 08:53

Simplytestme.co.uk are £12 each

You need to have completed your form before you check in at the airport to return to the UK. Its the responsibility of the airline to ensure you have completely this before they allow you to fly.
