@RedToothBrush

What ethical reasons for delay would those be?

As I don't know of any dramatically new revelations in terms of data that happened between July and September in terms of vaccine safety for children, and the vaccine was already declared safe by the MHRA?

The change came because the JCVI gave the decision back to the CMOs who considered the effects on education and took some action, thank Christ. I'd agree that the CMOs' decision-making was ethically right, but I can't see for the life of me why the option of vaccines couldn't have been put in place earlier.

I'd completely agree with you that, in addition, the rollout of vaccines to this age group has been too slow.

Oops just saw this @RedToothBrush

We shouldn't vaccinate kids for the benefit of older people if its to the detriment of the kids health unfortunately.

It was never going to be to the detriment of the children's health!

The JCVI were able to comment that the balance of benefit was in favour of vaccination for 12-15s, even if they only considered health aspects.

Overall, taking into account all considerations, there is a strong argument for offering vaccination to 12-15s (and the foundation for that was there in June).

And yes i know that.

But ethics mean you can't make a decision to vaccinate until you firmly establish that information. Thats my point. We waited until we were sure.

Interesting article @RedToothBrush thank you.

Higher increase week on week than the last couple of days.

HOWEVER, in England, zero LFD confirmations in the last 2 days, and only 70 from 3 days ago, the PCR only daily numbers are also higher than normally implied which suggests to me that PCR's are not being matched to LFD's so we have some double counting in the last 3 days.

Of course it could be a different problem, and the PCR confirmations are just completely missing but either way the figures for the last couple of days need to be looked at with a bit of a questioning eye.
