Covid and pets?

For those who tested positive, did any of your pets get sick?

It was in the news before that animals can get covid.

There's a star cat who comes for food and he came tonight and he is coughing. My mum was getting excited and calling it cat flu. I thought of covid.

He visits other neighbours homes too. I know a neighbour of mine and her husband went away on holidays abroad recently and flying was a risk at the start.

Just wondering if this coughing cat is a risk

Bless him, a coughing cat is a poorly cat regardless of cause, give him some treats. It could be covid , more chance of it being another cat disease though

He comes here regularly for food. I would say this is his favourite place because we do spoil him. We do t own him. I do t think he has any owners. He goes around to all the neighbours houses but I think this is his favourite. He's coughing and it's a symptom of covid.

Cats cough for lots of reasons, but if it is happening a lot then clearly the cat needs some veterinary attention. Please get it.

Yeah if you think he is a true stray (usually they do have homes ) then try and contact a local cat rescue / rspca because a cough in a cat is a sign of potentially serious illness

Our cat was coughing during lockdown, he also had a runny nose. Eventually we got him to a vet. Vet said it was just fur balls!
I was giving the poor moggy stream baths, by putting him in cat carrier in front of a bowl of boiling water and covering it with a towel. All supervised. I just didn’t know what to do. Then one day the cat sneezed and something appeared out of one nostril. I got some tissue and pulled it out. It was a huge blade of grass. He was right as rain after that. It had been going on for weeks!

My cat has had a cough for years. A previous vet said he was dying of heart failure but thankfully tests showed he has a grade 1 murmur! It doesn't happen regularly so the vet said just to keep an eye on him and they'll look at further tests if it get worse. He's 16 and they don't want to stress him any more than necessary.

The cat does not have Covid and the cat is not a risk to you.
