PCR for close contact. Do you still isolate?

My dd had close contact with someone who tested +. If I take her for a PCR(she has no symptoms and negative lft) does she has to isolate until PCR comes back?

Nope. If she has no symptoms then she's fine to continue with life whilst waiting for the result

I got pinged a few days ago that I’d been in contact with someone who’d tested positive. The app asked me if I was vaccinated and if I had symptoms. As I was double jabbed and had no symptoms the app said I didn’t need to isolate but should get a PCR test, which I did and which was negative.

You don’t say how old DD is, is she vaccinated? If not then she probably should isolate until the PCR comes back. A negative LFT means nothing.

Depends where you are. In Scotland you have to isolate till PCR comes back.

We haven't been contacted by anyone. My dd friend told her that she's tested +. We've been lft testing but was thinking of getting a pcr as well

In most places you can book a PCR same day and results come back overnight. You’re not talking that long an isolation if she doesn’t have Covid.

I don’t know what the “rule” is if you haven’t been pinged or contacted, but safest is to get the PCR ASAP and isolate till a negative result is received, again, assuming DD isn’t vaccinated.

Children are expected to get a PCR but continue to go to school

Yo haven’t been contacted by anyone as the friend hasn’t named her as a contact.

She doesn’t have to isolate whilst waiting for pcr results though unless symptomatic.

I told the mum she can give T and T out number if they contact them but they haven't yet.
