After isolation help

Let's say you've just completed a 10 day isolation period but you have some symptoms. After which you shouldn't be contagious right. Let's say you take a LFT on day 11 and it's positive again. Would that be because it's just detecting your Covid you just had and would you have to re isolate again for 10 days?

Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I was just a bit confused.

Once you have completed your 10 days, if you still have a temperature, you still self isolate.

You shouldn’t do LF or PCR ‘just in case’ after 10 days as they can still show covid.

HOWEVER I was told by track and trace that should you get new symptoms even if say a week or two after isolation, say, a new temperature or cough you SHOULD PCR again…

They told me that you should not do any more tests for 90 days and also should only isolate if you have a fever.

Ah that's interesting. Yes I saw that about not testing before 3 months. Why is that? Surely if you have the virus again you should test?

Because a test can show up as a false positive up too 3 months after you initially tested positive, even though you are no longer infectious.

That makes sense I suppose. Thank you for your replies.

The other question is I wanted to ask, would the person that has just completed their isolation and has no symptoms still have to isolate again if someone in the house looks developed symptoms?

Are they vaccinated?
pineapplejuiceisyuck · 16/11/2021 11:58

Single vaccinated

It's a bit confusing and is hidden amongst various documents but if your household member develops symptoms during your 10 days isolation you do not have to extend your isolation.

If there is a gap between your isolation ending and your household member developing symptoms or testing positive then you have to isolate again. (assuming the single vaccinated person is above the age of 18 years 6 months)

No.

Ok so I've just received this message and I'm confused again.

Do I need to take another pcr test after my isolation has ended?

No, it’s saying that if you have only done a lateral flow, do a pcr. (For people that registered a positive lateral flow online)
