Smell and taste

How long does it take to come back, and is there anything you can recommend eating in the meantime? Food in the stomach is currently just a cushion for painkillers, and a thing to kill the nausea.

It’s a month since I had Covid and my sense of smell is partially back. When I’m eating I think my brain fills in the gaps so food is tasting more normal but it’s not normal yet: I can’t smell the cat litter, or cooking smells unless I get my nose really close.

I hope you feel better soon. When I had absolutely no sense of smell I sniffed really strong stuff like coffee and peppermint essence every day to see if I could get anything and eventually I did.

@Bwix, thanks so much for your reply. This has been the most miserable 10 days. Looking forward to eating something yummy and smelling my coffee again!!

I tested positive at the end of October, I now have a slight sense of taste if it’s something quite strong like mustard. The same with smell, if I really sniff something strong I get a vague aroma. Not much point in eating anything unhealthy 😂

I lost mine today (day 5) it's the most weird thing ever and just when I want to comfort eat! I'm hoping it doesn't take too long to get back 🤞🤞

I've not been able to smell anything since I had Covid in December
