Should I isolate while waiting for test result?

On Thurs I was in close contact for an hour with a colleague who tested positive on Friday. They were coughing a lot but put it down to having a dry mouth from wearing a mask.

I went for a pcr today just to be safe. I had covid in July and am double jabbed. So I think its unlikely I get it again.
I'm due to attend a remembrance service in the morning. I should probably cancel, shouldn't I?

Can you do a lateral flow test?

If you have no symptoms then I think you’re fine to go. If you do have symptoms you should isolate. Hopefully the result will be back before the service starts.

No, you dont need to isolate, but I'm not sure a remembrance day service is the most sensible place to go if you possibly have covid. Are you important to the service, or just wanting to pay your respects? If the second, I wouodnt go. If the first, I wouid consider every carefully before going.

I used my last lateral flow test on Friday and it was negative. Have ordered more.
I'm due to do a reading tomorrow but someone else can cover easily enough. The church is very covid aware so I think they would probably want me to stay away.

There's a chance pcr could be back by the morning. Dd got results within 11 and another within 14 hours recently - both negative!

You are not legally obligated to isolate as a close contact with no symptoms whilst waiting for a pcr but it's a sensible decision to social distance, masks etc.

I dont know if its the same in England but in Wales you can go to any pharmacy to get a pack of lateral flow tests.

So if it is the same where yoh are, pop to your local supermarket pharmacy as they are usually open on a Sunday, and get some lateral flows.

You don’t have to isolate, and I wouldn’t avoid going to work etc. But a remembrance service is likely to have a lot of elderly people, so if your reading can easily be rearranged, I probably would give it a miss this year,

@usernamenumber636274 that's reassuring!
Ah yes hadn't thought of chemists, will try in the morning. Thanks all.

We have Covid in the office, one person positive on Tuesday and all PCRs and LFT for the rest of us were negative, but since then another 5 have come down with it, and whilst mine LFT and PCR still says negative I do think I am coming down with something, so I would say keep resting and stay home if you can.

Oh dear sorry to hear that. Its a minefield isn't it. I'm going to play it safe and keep away and not let anyone in my office this week.
When I had it before I had already been isolating for 9 days and caught it from dh who was positive so I didn't have to worry I'd passed it to anyone!
