What’s going on with GCSEs this year?

And Why?

I’m guessing it’s all to do with Covid. Mocks every term. Will there be actual GCSEs?

Why are they doing this again?

The information is that the mock exams are a contingency plan only and the exam boards are fully committed to exams going ahead.

Don’t see an issue.

Yes the plan atm is for actual GCSEs. They committed to changing some papers because of the learning time lost by this year’s exam year groups because of lockdowns.

No one really knows how this winter is going to go.

Ok. Thanks 😊

Poor kids and teachers though! Mad that they're saying it now: "oooh, have mocks in each term" - with five weeks of this term left. Why couldn't they have announced it ready for the start of this academic year?

noblegiraffe · 12/11/2021 00:07

Schools have been told that mocks have to be done in full exam conditions, and more of them so that they can be used to inform TAGs if needed.

Schools should have been aware it was on the cards www.mumsnet.com/Talk/secondary/4363178-Consultation-Evidence-collection-for-Teacher-Assessed-Grades-2022-in-case-exams-are-cancelled

The local school already does this

Exams from year 7 up

But everyone is hoping that the exams take place and the department of education don’t fuck it up….again
