Is it too late for 2nd jab?

DH and I had our first jab - Astra Zeneca - at our old surgery back in March.

We moved 200 miles north in May, so when we were due our 2nd jabs (and received the NHS text invites) we were a bit preoccupied. We did book at various times individually later on, but DH forgot and never really got round to re-booking, and I booked twice but had to cancel for work and transport reasons.

I tried to book again recently but it seems you can only get Pfizer as a 2nd jab here, and last time I checked the only site is over an hour's drive away.

Is it too late anyway? Does it matter if the 2nd jab is not the same variety as the first? Do we have to start over as we've left it so long?

Get whatever you can for your second and phone the local vaccine booking line and explain and they’ll book you in

Not too late.

Never mind, think I found the answer by googling - it wasn't very clear last time so I thought maybe a healthcare person on MN could help, but I had better luck when I googled this time around.

Hi, I'm looking for the same info, I can't seem to find a firm yes it's fine or no should go back to the first dosage?

Had my first jab end of June. Had a nasty allergic reaction to it so I've not had my second yet. I don't know what to do. Is the second jab a bigger or smaller dose I wonder.

Also, am TTC and feeling confused about how the jab affects that especially with my earlier reaction.

@beaverdiego. Your second dose of vaccine will be exactly the same as the first. Only you can decide whether to go for your second dose, but if I was trying to conceive I would certainly want to be fully vaccinated first.
