Hi, I tested my dd this morning using a home test kit and then sent my husband to post it. For some reason he decided to take a longer walk and ended up posting it in a post box that isn't a priority post box 🙄 does anyone know if it will still get processed?

Yes, it'll be fine.

I did the same last week and it was fine. Did you make a note of the Royal Mail tracking number on the front? If you did, you can track it to see that it gets collected and delivered.

I accidentally did this last month, with my daughter's home test.
It wasn't processed, we ended up having to do another test.

Yep, I did similar the other week and it was fine. Was quicker than the previous set of tests that went in the priority box!

ImUninsultable · 11/11/2021 11:09

It totally depends. The post box will still be emptied and when it gets to the post office they may sort it to the priority delivery stuff but they also may not.

All you can do is watch the tracking info. If it isnt delivered tonight then book a PCR at a drive in and get it done tomorrow.

Can I ask why you tested her this morning?

All the propriety box boxes in my town are emptied at 4.15 or 4.45 and you're meant to do the test and post it about an hour before. So it isnt sitting for half a day in the post box because they have limited time to actually test the swab before it becomes invalid.

But I live in a small town so maybe that's why our are only emptied once a day after 4. Are yours employed early as well?

Thanks everyone, looks like it's a case of waiting to see if the tracking picks up. Hopefully it does as she is a nightmare to test!

@ImUninsultable the instructions just said to test on the same day as posting and no later than one hour before the post box is collected. She is incredibly hard to test, so I had to get it done before my husband began work as it takes two people to pin her down.
