This can't be covid.... Can it?

So I'd like to start this thread by asking people to go easy on me, I was diagnosed with postnatal OCD and anxiety just before the first lock down, my mental health is in tatters and I'm struggling to think clearly!

I live with my husband and my daughter, we had covid symptoms on 21/10 went for PCR test and they came back positive on 22/10 and we were told to isolate until 31/10 which we did, so around 3 weeks ago now. We are pretty much recovered bar a bit of a cough

Tonight, my daughter (2yo) has a raging high temperature, and her cough seems a little worse, she's also just been inconsolable which is unlike her, she's now fallen fast asleep. What is the likely hood this is covid again? I've read you get a level of natural immunity but I've also read that you don't... There's so much information out there that it's tough to know what to believe.

I doubt it’s Covid so soon.

My DH and DS both had it 8th October.

Last week DS had a temperature and cough.
I didn’t test him as he’s only just had it and you can’t retest within 90days.

He also goes to nursery and obviously picked it up from there.

He’s passed it to me and felt rubbish. My PCR was negative so I know it’s just a cold we’ve had.

Thankfully he or DH never passed me Covid when they had it.

Really unlikely to get Covid again so soon. There are lots of non-Covid bugs going around at the moment. I’ve had two different colds in 3 weeks!

Hope your little one feels better after some calpol/in the morning.

It's so hard with little ones, isn't it? If you're worried do seek advice from your GP or call 111.

Almost certainly won’t be covid again.

There are literally 1000’s of germs in circulation and kids have poor immune systems. My DD was ill about 99% of her first & second winter 🙈 coughs, colds, fevers, HFM, chicken pox, vomiting bugs.. it was never ending.

BUT it did the job. Her immune system grew & matured from all the germs and now at 4, she is far less!

Fevers are worrying but equally often nothing to worry about. It’s the body’s way of fighting an illness. But it’s OK to get things checked out if it won’t come down with calpol & ibuprofen.

So all three of you tested positive and had symptoms previously?

I believe that the earliest recorded incident of a second covid case is 5 months after the original infection.
