Turned away at booster clinic with appointment, computer cock up let people book too early

Have just had my booster after booking online on the NHS website. Many people were being turned away even if they were only one day earlier than 4 calendar months. Apparently the system is to blame but they won't honour the appointments.
Not just my vaccine centre doing this, friends in a distant county were turned away today with 4 days early appointments.
All these people had appts today so there was capacity today. Now they are being told to just walk in on days that are already fully booked. So frustrating

I realised that it is only 181 days from my 2nd jab to my booster so tried to re book it but kept getting an error message whenever I put my details in. I tried with my husbands details ( who will be more than 182 days) and didn't have the problem. I then tried 119 who couldn't access my booking either. 119 said it has been happening all day.
@SparklingLime but the OP wasn’t turned away.
Did you not get past the first sentence?

The whole point of the OP is this:

I had mine last week, one day short of my 6 months and there was no issue at all. Was at a pharmacy though, not a vaccination centre.

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

I went to a drop in yesterday. They were doing anyone at 5 1/2 weeks.
I assume you mean months, rather than weeks?

Do you actually mean anyone? Or just those who are eligible? Aren't they still only offering it to certain groups?

May I ask if it was Pfizer or Moderna that you had there? I've booked for a local chemist, was quite surprised it was an option (much wider choice than when I booked my daughters a fortnight ago).

You're not asking me but mine was at a Boots, largely given over to a vax centre, ( the town does have another larger Boots and indeed a vacant supermarket store as a dedicated larger vaccination centre). I heard the staff explaining to those turned away that if they returned on the correct day it would be Moderna in the morning session and Pfizer pm. This was not apparent when booking the appointment online. There were other smaller pharmacies to choose from as well.

Yep I was allowed to booked what looked like 3 days early. I realised and changed it as I don't want a wasted journey.

Rockbird · 10/11/2021 13:10

@altmember it was Pfizer, didn't get a choice.

I’ve just had a similar issue, booked at the city hub centre as I’m in the risk group not allowed Pyzer or moderna

Spent 25 minutes queuing which wasn’t good AZ I’m disabled, got to vaccination point spoke to a doctor who confirmed I needed AZ as my booster and told that they only have them 2 mornings a week

I have to say the Dr was fab at this point because there is no mechanism to rebook you in the system, she wrote a note and added me to DH’s appointment on a date when it will be available

As I say staff were fantastic but the system allowed me to book a clinic that was no use for me
