PCR - I'm so confused

DH currently has Covid and is on day seven of isolation. I haven't shown any symptoms but did a PCR when he did and mine came back negative. I'm also doing daily Lateral Flow Tests.

Does all this mean (assuming I don't get any symptoms in the days ahead and that my LFTs remain negative) that I'm in the clear or do I need to do another PCR at some point? You could do a PCR then catch asymptomatic Covid the next day and you'd never know? Confused

That's what the LFTs are for - to pick up asymptomatic cases. We all did PCRs on about day 4 when DS had Covid, and daily LFTs until he was a few days clear of his isolation period. Incubation period is up to 14 days, so in theory you could catch it from your DH on any day he's infectious and then take another 14 days to get symptoms/test positive. In reality it usually seems to happen faster than that though!
