CV, questioned at booster appt. Have I done something wrong?

I am disabled, had to previously shield and in group 6 (I think). Due to my Dr being pretty awful I tried to book a booster for myself as I assumed that's what I had to do, and it went through the system fine, got an appointment etc.
I show up today and the woman at the desk questioned hme about why I'm there as I'm under 50 and if I had a text or call from my Dr. I say no, as I assumed we just had to book ourselves and that if the system said i was eligible I must be (as I tried two weeks ago and it said I couldn't book).
In the end after being questioned about my disability I was able to have the booster and told that if the system let me book that I was allowed, but I'm worried I've done something wrong?

If you’re six months past your second dose, don’t worry about it. Some of us don’t fit into nice little boxes.

chillied · 09/11/2021 14:14

I dunno OP round these parts we get a text telling us it's our turn to book.

But it doesn't matter now cos you had it?

MumbleCrumbs · 09/11/2021 14:18

I'm just worried I've jumped the queue. I assumed that if it let me book that I was eligible to have it. Wondering if I should have left and checked with my Dr before having it.

One of our local drs has put message on social media saying they have no capacity to run extra clinics and anyone who is eligible please book themselves

Fallagain · 09/11/2021 14:25

Only group 5 and above are entitled to boasters and household members of those who are immunosuppressed. But people who were shielding were higher than group 6 so maybe this has caused the confusion.

KateTheEighth · 09/11/2021 14:26

Don't worry about it Smile

They accepted you, you've had it

It's fine

WholeClassKeptIn · 09/11/2021 14:28

Im under 50, I think group 6 and have booked for next week. It will be 6 months since my last dose...

SandysMam · 09/11/2021 14:28

Don’t give it another thought Op, no one else will be. Please don’t waste previous energy on this non thing!!

AreYouRightThereSkippy · 09/11/2021 14:29

Don't worry about it at all!

You haven't jumped the queue. If there was a mistake that let you book, then it isn't your mistake. You are CV and were able to book. Anyone who wanted a booster would do the same in those circumstances.

SandysMam · 09/11/2021 14:29

Precious not previous!

This might be it. I'm unsure as to what group I was in but got the shielding letter etc and got vax offered fairly early on.

If the system let you book then I would expect a letter any day. I got my letter after I booked my first and second vaccine. I was also questioned why I thought I could have one at that time as well as prove I was one of the keyworker bollocks.

You've done nothing wrong.

WholeClassKeptIn · 09/11/2021 14:37

Shielding was higher than group 6
. Group 6 is thise clinically vulnerable but not shielding.

girlmom21 · 09/11/2021 14:40

It's been really poorly advertised as to who is eligible and when. I thought anyone who had their second vaccine over 6 months ago was eligible.

I'm glad you've got your booster and the system shouldn't have told you you're eligible if you're not. They shouldn't have questioned you either if they're saying you're allowed it if you've booked.

Even if you have (which you haven't), it's done now. You can't unvaccinate yourself and give it someone else.
Leftbutcameback · 09/11/2021 15:04

I was questioned like this too when I went for my booster. I was really surprised - I’m CEV and had my vaccine card and on the system it said I was 6 months since my second. The booking info just said to bring myself and a mask. Luckily I had the text telling me to book the appointment which they wanted to see. I hadn’t got my CEV letter or emails. Was very surprised

Leftbutcameback · 09/11/2021 15:05

And good to hear you got it done - it’s not like they’re having to turn people away! Ours was pretty quite for a long time

oneglassandpuzzled · 09/11/2021 15:08

You’re fine.

Thanks for having it done and helping the wider community. I’ve got COVID and don’t want it again. Can’t wait for my booster. It will be a bit delayed now.

Ihaveamagicwand · 09/11/2021 15:15

I was also shielding and was called for a third primary vaccine, not a booster, a couple of weeks ago. This third dose doesn't seem to have been very widely publicised and there seems to be great confusion surrounding it. Even some GP surgeries were unaware at the time although I suspect they are more up to speed now.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 09/11/2021 15:19

Shielding letters were sent to the CEV which was group 4. You haven't done anything wrong.

wonkylegs · 09/11/2021 15:19

I had a letter (mine was a 3rd jab rather than a booster which I will get later) and still got questioned as of I'd got it wrong.
I was the only person in the queue under 50 so it probably threw them a bit.

I believed that they were planned for groups 1-9. Is this no longer the case?
CovidCorvid · 09/11/2021 15:44

Group 6 can book now for boosters. DD never had to shield but was group 6 and can book for it.

The term CEV is no longer being used. Those who are 'high risk' are eligible. There's a list here.

firef1y · 09/11/2021 16:11

I'm (just) under 50, group 6 (autism plus carer of a vulnerable child) and am able to book my booster. In fact despite booking a slot I'm going down to the vaccine bus tomorrow. My partner had his jabs a couple of weeks after me and isn't able to book his jab for anything sooner than in 2 weeks time (despite there definitely being slots earlier), I'm assuming because he's not quite 6months since his 2nd jab.
If you were able to book then you've done nothing wrong
