Covid recovery certificate for a child travelling to the USA

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has had experience of getting a covid recovery certificate for an unvaccinated child to fly to the USA? DC had covid in October and so can't take the usual PCR. DC is a US citizen but my understanding from the CDC is that any unvaccinated person needs to show a negative PCR or recovery certificate. Anyone had to get one and can advise the best way to go about it? Many thanks!

Your DC only needs a lateral flow to go to the US. It does have to be a supervised lateral flow though. You can get them for around £35-30 so will most likely be cheaper then getting a recovery letter as most NHS GPs won’t issue a recovery letter so you would probably have to pay for a private letter.

Oh wow, I clearly missed that detail. Do you know where you saw that info? Or maybe I have totally misread the CDC site. Entirely possible!

@orangina01 From the CDC webpage:

You must be tested with a viral test that could be either an antigen test or a nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT). Examples of available NAATs for SARS-CoV-2 include but are not restricted to reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP), transcription-mediated amplification (TMA), nicking enzyme amplification reaction (NEAR), and helicase-dependent amplification (HDA).

Antigen = lateral flow. It’s been well publicised on other forums that I am on that lateral flow is sufficient.

Showing my ignorance as didn't realise antigen meant lateral flow. So helpful, thank you!!
