Hello my daughter who is 12 who has had her first Pfizer vaccine has been in close contact with another child who has tested positive tonight with covid she has no symptoms. My daughter was at a sleep over last night they was sharing drinks ect.

What's her chances of catching covid and how long now do I need to wait to test her

Thanks xx

Try not to panic. Children rarely get ill with covid and her being vaccinated makes that even less likely.

The official guidance is to do a pcr as soon as possible. Realistically, if usually takes someone a few days to turn positive if they’re going to. LFTs are an easy way to spot if she’s got it. A negative result doesn’t rule it out but it could alert you to an aaymptomatic infection. You’re supposed to do them twice a week anyway. It might be a good idea to use them a bit more often.

Hopefully your daughter will avoid it. It’s not a certainty that it will be passed on.

My mate shagged her boyfriend every night as they were trying for a baby.

He had it, she didn’t catch it. Can’t get much closer than that 😁
