Was I seeing things on the lfts?

I had a positive or so I think lft. Took a PCR negative. Did another lft, positive again. PCR negative. Did different brand of lft positive. PCR negative?? I had "cold" symptoms.
Were they faint lines? Faulty tests? Was I seeing things?
This was from thurs last week to Monday. Lft now negative. What has happened. So confused.

They are definitely there. My sister is having the same problem currently. She feels ill, our kids all have covid and she’s had daily positive LFTs but each pcr is negative. I don’t know what the explanation is.

Ive had this twice now but without any symptoms. So annoying.

Neena86 · 05/11/2021 22:15

It's quite annoying because PCR overrides lft. I didn't really have the classic symptoms apart from a cough.
Who knows wether it was or wasn't. Suppose I'll never know now.

See the several threads on similar situations, also the Immensa lab errors which some experts think are still happening albeit it would have to be something occurring at (an) other(s) lab(s).

Satsunday · 05/11/2021 22:20

It happened to us and we now don't know if DS had covid or not. We isolated anyway but it would have been good to know. We had a positive case in the household and LTFs were positive but with very faint lines (mostly grey rather than pink). Two PCRs were negative. No symptoms. There were other threads on it and I don't think any of us could work out how this could happen.

I'm in Derbyshire. Hmmm. Maybe there is another lab situation. Suppose it will come out in the end. I did report it to the 119 helpline.

I'm north east. Had 8 positive lfts since halloween but negative pcr. Waiting for the next pcr to come back. We all have a bad cold at home, so symptoms fit but I'm the only one testing positive. It's so frustrating.

The chances of getting a false positive on an lft is about 0.4% so to get multiple from different batches like we have must make the odds astronomical of it not being covid

Whatwentwronghere · 05/11/2021 22:28

Also the people who do eventually get a positive seem to be mostly from postal tests. I'm wondering if it's a more established lab the tests get sent to as perhaps opposed to a sub contracted one

amsadandconfused · 05/11/2021 22:34

I had positive LFT on Wednesday…did PCR Wednesday pm and that was negative! Annoyingly it meant I wasn’t allowed to work because I am a HCP and not paid …out of pocket as well ! I have already had Covid and both vaccs.

Neena86 · 05/11/2021 22:44

All of mine were postal, I don't drive and the nearest walk in is miles away. It's really frustrated me because I just want to know for sure if it was or wasn't.

I had to go back to work yesterday. Neg PCR means we must go back. 😬 I work retail so see loads of people a day. Seems crazy really.

My second pcr has come back negative now too. So so frustrating
