Can they both be wrong?

NC

I've been doing LTFs daily or every other day for several weeks as I've been going to the office and pretty much carrying on as normal. Still wearing masks in shops and public transport (I'm definitely in the minority) and generally careful.

Yesterday while in the office I started feeling 'head coldy'. Came home and went straight to bed with Night Nurse. Woke up this morning feeling absolutely sure that I had a head cold but did a test anyway. 2 x positive LTF. I'm waiting for a PCR to come in the post. Other than head cold symptoms I have no cough, no temperature and can still taste and smell.

In your experience (oh wise Mnetters), is there any chance that 2 LTFs could be wrong?

No. Most of the folk I know who've had the delta variant have had a "head cold" and if they lost taste and smell it wasn't until a few days later. Hopefully it's a mild dose!

Escapedgoats · 04/11/2021 17:48

No. Sounds like Covid to me (from personal experience). Hope it's only mild.

BluebellsGreenbells · 04/11/2021 17:50

No. If you’ve been jagged you might be fine. I had no symptoms.

HerLadySheep · 04/11/2021 17:55

I tested positive this week, no cough just normal cold type symptoms, I think this is pretty standard if you are double jabbed.

LFT's are pretty reliable, if you've had 2 positive results I think it's safe to assume you have it, I hope you feel better soon

PurpleDaisies · 04/11/2021 17:59

Unfortunately it sounds pretty nailed on that you’ve got Covid. Hope it’s a mild case for you. Thats how mine started. Come and moan on the Corona board moan thread if you test positive Flowers

Northernsoullover · 04/11/2021 18:01

Taste and smell went on around day 3 for my family. Until then it resembled a cold.

Socksanddrugsandrockandroll · 04/11/2021 18:18

No chance. Most delta infections are starting like this. You may be lucky and just stay a bit coldy throughout but for lots of people the cough and smell and taste issues start around day 5.

JanglyBeads · 04/11/2021 18:43

Research published in October showed how reliable a positive LFT is. Sorry can’t find link at present.

FindingMeno · 04/11/2021 18:45

Sorry but I think you will have a positive pcr

Pollymollydolly · 04/11/2021 18:46

If I didn’t know I had Covid (positive PCR) I would have thought I had a bad cold. I didn’t have a high temperature at any point, had a bit of a cough for a couple of days, sneezed a lot, lost sense of smell and taste for about a week or so. It took the full 10 days to recover and tbh it was another week or so to feel normal again - lots of sleep needed! How ever it really want that bad and i am very glad I was fully vaccinated as I have several risk factors.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/11/2021 20:19

Delta does present like a cold. I never had a cough at all when I had Covid. I lost my taste and smell 3 days after getting a positive PCR.

CiderWithLizzie · 04/11/2021 21:59

My dd has 2 positive LFD tests 2 weeks ago (the new Flowflex ones) but tested negative on a pcr and the old style LFDs. This was after the Immensa lab scandal so we had to assume she didn’t have covid but tonsillitis as the doctor diagnosed.

CouldThisReallyBe · 07/11/2021 13:39

Yep. the PCR is positive Sad. I still feel like I have a really bad cold and no other Covid symptoms.

On the plus side - I'm trying to see this as my increased immunity for the winter months (once I come out the other side of the Covid tunnel).

Oh and for anyone who's interested...I'm absolutely sure I caught it on public transport thanks to all the f*ckers who don't wear masks (80% of people). Angry

There really is no way you can tell where you got it. There's no point at all being angry at "fuckers who don't wear masks". Just like there was no point me being angry at my young colleague who went to Boardmasters with no vaccine. I got Covid only eight weeks after my second jab.

I hope it's mild for you. Take your own advice and look at it as your booster shot.

BluebellsGreenbells · 07/11/2021 22:54

Well I got it from wok. I know exactly who have it too me and when!!

It’s not difficult to work out.

BurntO · 07/11/2021 23:47

Mine started with a head cold, were my worst symptoms throughout actually

Sometimes you do know where you got it. I can say pretty confidently that I got it from my work colleague who sits opposite me, she tested positive after being a close contact with a positive case, then I tested positive a couple of days later.
