Could pcr be wrong

I feel dreadful with every single classic covid symptom😩 was 100% sure I had it, isolated until I got my pcr result back which was negative. I'm sure I did it right, is it worth doing another test?
I have lft's at home but you are not supposed to do those with symptoms

You can do a lateral flow with symptoms. The reason they say not to is because you should do a PCR with symptoms as they are more accurate. We all tested positive on PCR. We all had a positive lateral flow. Do it!

Lfts still work with symptoms.

If you have Covid, lfts could give you a positive. If you get a negative that doesn’t rule it out but since you’ve had a negative pcr already you most likely don’t. Sometimes taking a pcr too early will give you a false negative.

You don’t sound well enough to be going out anyway. Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

I'm exactly the same. I've done 2 negative pcrs now. On day 6 and still not well enough to be going out. I know a couple of other people who were also convinced they had covid but got negative pcrs. I have every symptom and have never felt like this before

Other viruses are still available......... they haven't all died out since covid came along.

This.... there are some horrible viruses about. My friend had one that she said was far worse than the subsequent covid she contracted (double vaxxed). Isn't 'the worst cold ever' a thing that people are talking about?
Cookerhood · 03/11/2021 18:53

LFTs don't suddenly stop working when you get symptoms, they are designed to detect virus. They are less sensitive so may miss a few people but generally the "use without symptoms" thing has been massively misunderstood.

Do a lateral flow. If it’s positive, it’s very likely you have it as false positives are rarer than false negative PCRs.

a) Yes it could be wrong
b) statistically the vast majority of people who test with Covid symptoms actually have another virus
