Do you legally have to give details of close contacts to test and trace?

DH and I have both tested positive. We were both at a party over the weekend, and meticulously gave all our contacts to Test and Trace for DH. I’m being asked to do the same. It took 2 hours to complete the form for DH. We saw exactly the same people. We contacted them all ourselves anyway and people are taking tests etc.

I don’t really want to have to spend another 2 hours on this. Do I legally have to?

I'd just say you didn't come into contact with anyone. Tracks and trace already have the details of the same people you'd be identifying anyway.

Well exactly, I can’t see much practical benefit. Probably skews their data a bit if they think I’m a hermit, but that’s about it.

But I can’t tell if it is mandatory?

I will say that in my experience-it was back at the beginning when it was all new and I tested positive because I was in a testing scheme so asymptomatic-I spent absolutely ages entering contacts etc and not one person was ever notified. (that I know of) Very frustrating

I told a couple friends myself because I felt awful as had no symptoms so dog walking etc as normal.

I think as long as the people are entered in the system it's fine

And hopefully it is more efficient now...
