I thought they could be positive for ages? Isn't that why you don't use them for 90 days after having covid?

skyblueone · 03/11/2021 06:34

For me it was 3 days, dd 2 days and dh 4 days.

studentvera · 03/11/2021 06:34

Oh really okay thank you

That's the pcr. All the people I know who've had covid have tested negative on LF by the end of their isolation.

You are still exempt from regular LFT testing for 90 days after a positive PCR as you can still test positive on them after you are no longer contagious

DH and I had covid at the beginning of September. About ten days ago he did an LFT 'out of curiosity' even though he knew not to test within 90 days. It showed a faint positive - seven weeks or so after isolation ended. I then did one, but it was negative.

You can show positive on PCR and LFT for 90 days afterwards.

My DS went back to school today after Covid and isolating.

Does he have to resume twice weekly lateral flows? Track and trace only mentioned PCRs to me.

beenrumbled · 03/11/2021 08:31

No need to test (either PCR or LFT) for 90 days after a positive PCR. Just been through this with DS2; he is still not testing for school as was positive in September.

holidaynearlyover · 03/11/2021 14:24

@hellcatspangle the only reason I think that is that children and staff in school were told not to do weekly lateral flow tests after having covid for 90 days as they could show false positives 🤷🏼‍♀️

PokemonGoGoGo · 03/11/2021 14:45

I first tested positive a week ago on LFT and PCR and my LFT is still positive today (although slightly fainter than it has been)
