DS is having a pre-op PCR. He had the rona 6 weeks before. It doesn’t show on LFTs now - does anyone know how long it lingers on a PCR?

Up to 90 days which is why they say not to retest in this time

Thank you. I will call the hospital. Hope they allow the op to proceed.

I caught covid 3 weeks ago and I’m already negative on a PCR

My niece had a negative PCR after two weeks. I have no idea why my DB tested her again to be honest but I was surprised how quickly it turned from positive to negative.

DS showed up positive on PCR 6 weeks after having Covid.

He had to do a day 2 test after travelling.

DH was still showing a very faint positive on LFT last week - we had covid at the beginning of September. Mine was negative though.

I imagine he'd still be positive on PCR, too.

Hmmm! Hopefully the hospital have procedures covering the situation & they don’t just cancel!

Perhaps I should start a new thread asking hospital workers what their dept would do!

Just an update in case anyone comes across this in future.

DS's pre-op PCR is cancelled, they don't do them within 90 days of infection. Noted on his file, op can go ahead.

Thanks for the advice.
