LFTs that are not nasal only

Ouchyhurt · 30/10/2021 15:15

DS1(13) has autism and testing him is a nightmare. We have managed to get him to do the LFTs but he'll only do his throat not nose. The same with PCRs when needed. The new LFTs we received are nasal only, I've ordered more as needed anyway but are they still only issuing the green box ones?

Any ideas?

Does school have the older ones, ours does?

Ouchyhurt · 30/10/2021 15:27

That's a good idea, I'll ask. Thanks

I got some older ones in the blue and white box from our local chemist. I'm in North London.

Ouchyhurt · 30/10/2021 15:34

I need to pop on the pharmacy so I'll check which ones they have and if needed download the QR code thing.

Good luck, OP.

I would just use the nose ones on the throat instead. It won't make any difference.

The swabs are much shorter, swabbing the throat would be very difficult.

Halo saliva tests are government approved

Bobholll · 30/10/2021 19:06

Deffo try a pharmacy. I got old ones from there recently. I gave them back as the nasal ones are much better for us all! (appreciate why you need them obviously!)

LadyPenelope68 · 30/10/2021 19:13

@Ouchyhurt

I’ve 2 boxes of the old type I’m happy to send you if you’re desperate abs can’t get hold of any. Just message me.

InTheLabyrinth · 30/10/2021 19:14

@Ouchyhurt
Where abouts, roughly, are you?
If you are local to me, I can grab you some boxes at work on Monday. Weve got 100s of the throat ones.

Chuzzle · 30/10/2021 19:15

I got a throat and nose one from Tesco pharmacy the other day.

x2boys · 30/10/2021 19:44

Chemists might do the old ones ,my son also has autism and severe learning disabilities, the news ones are better for us as it's a fight getting any type of swab ,typical lol
Hope you find ones that work for your son .

Can i ask are these a different type ?
Roadtripconcept · 30/10/2021 19:50

I've always had the nose and throat ones if I've had them from a chemist . I've only had the nose ones from the government site .

mrsmuggins53 · 30/10/2021 19:50

www.haloverify.com/

Not tried them but seem legit!

Ouchyhurt · 30/10/2021 20:17

Thanks all and thanks to LadyPenelope68 and InTheLabyrinth for your very kind offers. I'll investigate the local pharmacy and school.

Not sure why he can only tolerate the throat not the nose, very odd but guessing it's a sensory thing.

Try your local library too. The one I work in gives them out and we keep being sent this sort. We have hundreds of boxes. It’s frustrating because most people want nose only ones so aren’t taking them like they used to.

Cantchooseaname · 30/10/2021 21:36

I have at least 2 boxes of throat ones- happy to post on as I much prefer nasal only.
