Covid lateral flow test

Has anyone tested positive on a lateral flow test after 10 days of isolation? Still paranoid that I’m contagious as I’m testing positive but my partner is negative

You arent supposed to retest for 90 days unless you get symptoms again. Tests can show positive in that time even when you are no longer contagious

Anne8888 · 30/10/2021 10:59

@dementedpixie I have heard that I just find it strange how I’m still positive but everyone I have spoken to has tested negative by the end of their isolation

You aren’t supposed to retest for 90 days, but many people do in the hope that if they test negative the virus has left their system (there’s no evidence) and that they are no longer contagious. I’m sure it must help some people who are anxious to know either way. As long as they are LFT and not PCR tests, then I don’t think there’s a problem with this.

But if people are anxious and get a positive result even after isolation has ended will that not make them even more anxious even though they will no longer be contagious?

LFT are supposed to be used when you don't have symptoms anyway. What you want is a PCR - but they can show up positive for weeks after. Once you've done your 10 days, you're fine, so long as you feel okay to get back to normal.

DD's tests were still positive but I think were negative 3 weeks or so after her 10 day isolation.

Anne8888 · 02/11/2021 18:13

@SoupDragon was that on lateral flow? X

Yes

I was sneezing at the end of 10 days. T&T told me to take another LFT. As it was negative I was fine to go out, they said if I tested positive I had to stay in- although I can’t remember how long/ until when.

Anne8888 · 02/11/2021 21:38

@SoupDragon how old is DD? My baby is still testing positive so wondering if it stays in their systems longer even though he has not really showed any symptoms

Stop testing!
You arent supposed to keep testing after your positive test

DH and I had covid at the beginning of September. He did an LFT last week 'out of curiosity' and it showed a faint positive. I then did one and it was negative.
