Tested positive on Monday night, confirmed with PCR yesterday

None of the symptoms I was on the look out for, I can see how it’s spreading if people are choosing not to test.

Symptoms -
Sneezing
Runny nose
A wet, productive cough

I don’t have a temperature, I’ve had a cough like this many times before, my sense of smell and taste isn’t particular affected. It feels exactly like a normal cold
.
Has anyone else had the same?

But you do have one of the three main symptoms, a cough. That cough will be different for everyone.

Hope you feel better soon.

ElleGettingBetter · 28/10/2021 20:45

I guess I was on the lookout for a dry cough, or a continuous cough? I cough once or twice when I wake up and that’s it - I just thought that I would be able to tell the difference between a normal cold and Covid, and without the test I really wouldn’t have been able to.

Thank you, I hope it stays this mild!

I tested positive yesterday after having a positive lateral flow. My symptoms were a bad back and neck (like muscle type pains) and a really bad headache which doesn't go with painkillers. I only did the lateral flow out of curiosity Because I had so little energy. I thought it was all side effects from my booster. Just today I have lost sense of smell and taste so first official symptom and I'm day 4.

JanglyBeads · 28/10/2021 20:56

It’s thought that the cough has changed with delta.

Bsmirched · 28/10/2021 21:01

I was very similar to you OP. My cough was very definitely not continuous, and I was a bit snuffly. There must be an awful lot of people for whom symptoms like these wouldn't even register as being a possible covid symptom.

I agree, I tested because I’m due at a baby shower - I imagine many people would think they had a cold and just not bother.

My DM had stomach bug symptoms, i think they need to reassess the 3 main symptoms

I really do think it needs updating. Apparently the American list of symptoms is much better than ours.

DD had the symptoms of a terrible cold for a couple of days, no cough, no fever but she's wanted to sleep and sleep, and she's completely off her food and has lost her sense of smell and taste.

Catipepo · 28/10/2021 21:29

I'm on day three, exactly same symptoms as you OP.
Had a very very slight cough day 1, hadn't taken a LFT this week (I'm pregnant so do test regularly) and it turned positive in under 30 seconds.

YourThoughtsOn · 28/10/2021 21:31

I was very similar. Exactly like I would be if I had a cold. And completely different to what I expected.

Hope you don’t feel too poorly, the main issue for me is that it is taking a long while to recover

ElleGettingBetter · 28/10/2021 21:47

Sorry to hear so many of us on the thread have it.

I hope you all feel better soon too!

No real symptoms yesterday, just felt a bit ‘off’ negative LFT. Felt the shivers this morning, blocked and runny nose, only a slight cough. Tested positive at lunchtime. Now have a temperature, and ache.

ElleGettingBetter · 29/10/2021 12:30

Lost my sense of smell today, it’s very strange!

OP posts:
Catipepo · 29/10/2021 17:56

@ElleGettingBetter same! Smell has now gone (day 4), taste is still there but definitely not as strong. Keep trying marmite from the jar to test 😂

ElleGettingBetter · 29/10/2021 18:04

@Catipepo it’s so weird isn’t it?! I’m smelling EVERYTHING - shoes, coffee, washing (clean!) and absolutely nothing is registering.

Taste almost gone, but not quite. I have no marmite Sad

The Covid app Zoe has looked at this. The most common symptoms after being full vaccinated are headache, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat and cough.

It’s a travesty that the criteria for booking a pcr test hasn’t been updated to reflect this.

kessiebird · 29/10/2021 19:24

Yes, from 16th Oct I had runny nose, sneezing fits and slightly sore throat.I was also exhausted. Two negative LFTs. Only when I lost taste and smell on 24th Oct did the LFT turn positive. PCRs confirmed three of us in the house had it. DS and DH do not have symptoms.

I now know from the Zoe App they were signs. 🤦‍♀️

The taste and smell seems to be returning today, five days after losing them.

shggg245 · 29/10/2021 19:50

I have cough, loss of smell / taste, headache and the worst back ache. I also gave a quick resting heartrate. Feel awful. Double jabbed too.

Daisy829 · 29/10/2021 19:54

I think the problem with the symptoms is that the list is so extensive people really need to test any time they feel any type of ill. I’ve heard people have back ache, upset tummy’s, sore throat, just a bit off…..the list goes on and on.
