Not needing to isolate

I know the advice is now that people who are close contacts with a positive case don't need to isolate if they are double jabbed or under 18.

But I can't see that I can send my youngest to school next week when his brother and I have Covid and will still be in our isolation periods. I don't want to be responsible for an outbreak in his class.

What has your experience of this been?

If you keep him off, it will be marked as unauthorised. You could get him a PCR home test sent and send it off Monday,/Tuesday, that will give him a few more days at home waiting for result and at least if he does go into school, you know he doesn’t have covid.

It's absolutely bonkers isn't it. No wonder this thing is rife.

We had a similar situation last week, and in agreement with the school I kept our DS at home, and school sent him stuff to do. Cases here have gone through the roof, so I think our schools are being supportive in kids stopping home where close contact is within the household!

We sent them in

I guess I'll see what the situation is come Monday. Probably ring the school before sending I think

OP i totally agree with you. Although he would be marked absent, does it really matter? Having just had covid myself (along with one of my sons) I wouldn't have sent my other kids to school.

Our school’s official policy is that the sibling has to stay off for the first 5 days of the isolation period. Cases here are high.
