Antibody testing after PCR

I’ve done an antibody test after +ve pcr. Still waiting on results a week after posting.

How long did it take for others’ results to come through?

The website gives 119 as the number to contact with enquiries about results but there’s no obvious choice to connect to.

Any ideas?

I have no ideas, but am also waiting on an antibody test that has been nearly a week - I did look it up yesterday and it said it could take 5-7 days for the results to come through, so it might just be that they're slow at the moment?

Bimblesalong · 28/10/2021 14:09

Hope so - after the carnage covid and of doing the sample I’d like a result and am hoping for antibodies.

I did one in May via the Zoe app and had results in three days so was concerned it’s taking longer.

As you say, I guess they’re busy given the high rate at present. Reassuring to hear you also are on the outer part of the timescale.

I got my results today, I think it took about 6 days.

Spacecadetagain · 28/10/2021 22:59

I posted an antibody test back six days ago and still haven’t received my results . Rang 119 who were effect useless .. so I’ve no idea what the time frame us .. I guess they are processing a lot of these now so it’s taking longer

Bananabell · 28/10/2021 23:07

I got mine on Tuesday after sending it off last Monday, so 8 days. Had been wondering where it was because I did one in June and it came back in a couple of days, but I guess with all the positive cases it's taking a bit longer at the moment.

Thanks for the updates everyone. Hoping that none of ours are rotating in the sorting office drum, or down the back of a pipette cabinet!

Still waiting, been 8 days now.

@Bimblesalong - sorry to disappoint but if it's your 1st antibody test (of a two part test), then it will only show antibodies generated by either a previous infection (not the one you've just had, but one you may have had within the last 6 or so months) and/or antibodies via vaccination. You'll have to do the second test (in about 3 weeks) in order to find out whether you have antibodies as a result of your current infection.
However, not sure how reliable these NHS antibody tests are as, after my first test, I got told that I do have antibodies from a previous infection as well as from vaccination.... now, I have had no known previous infections and I'm also not vaccinated Hmm

@mrsnoname. Thanks! That’s really interesting and hopefully reassuring too when the results finally arrive.
