Visiting child testing positive

Not having the best few days - the cold I thought I had has turned into covid (positive LF yesterday afternoon, confirmed with a very quick result back from a PCR).
Rest of the household went off for a PCR this morning - including a child who is staying with us for helf term (a relative, lives a fair distance away - is meant to be going home in the next few days).

I'm assuming if she tests negative, and if my husband tests negative he can take her home - as they don't have to self isolate

However if she tests positive what happens? Is she stuck with us for 10 days (we don't mind, but she will be upset), or can she be taken back to her house to self isolate with her family?

If she tests positive someone who is negative can take her home as long as it’s not public transport. No-one is going to make a child stay somewhere - besides, who would know?
It’s one of those instances where common sense prevails. A potentially ill child needs to be with their parent/s.

If it was my child I would want them back

Thanks - that's what I thought - will get complicated if all the adults are positive - but still waiting for results

If there's no negative adult who can take her home from your household, can an adult from her household come and pic her up OP?

Have you had the results through yet?

Had the results, she's positive (as am I) the rest of the household is negative though, which gives us options - it is very complicated due to unrelated illness in her family home, so she is seeing out the isolation period with us (which is not ideal, but for the best)

Sorry to hear your update, but at least you got her result before her returning home, hope it isn’t too bad for you both.
