Positive PCR within 90 days - further 10 days self isolation required?

What an absolute shit show. DS tested positive for Covid yesterday meaning holiday has been cancelled. I half expected this as he’d only had Covid and previously tested positive 8th Oct, and done his 10 days isolation. What I didn’t expect was a call to say he needs to do another self isolation.
T&T called this morning and initially said ‘he’s not got Covid again it’s because he’s within 90 days of a positive test so no need to self isolate’, so all good and nice and sensible. They told us to call 119 and ‘remove the marker’. One hour on the phone later and 119 basically did a lot of faffing about and checking then said, if T&T say you don’t have to isolate then fine.
The I get 2 calls and messages saying call back it’s urgent saying I’ve been misinformed - DS does need to self isolate again. They’re calling me back at later on tonight again. Absolute shambles. This surely can’t be correct it’s double counting cases? I act don’t know who to believe I’ve had X2 officials tell me he doesn’t need to self isolate again, and one who does.
Does anyone know what is correct?

Did he do the PCR because of your holiday?
That's the issue with having covid so close to travel when you can keep testing positive even when no longer contagious.

Would they have accepted an LFT as they aren't as accurate as PCR and might have produced a negative test

Yes @dementedpixie the PCR was only for the holiday. They wouldn’t have accepted LTF.
Just had another fruitless call to 119, apparently if she was an adult she would be able to get a Covid recovery certificate on the app, and this could override it, but as she’s under 16 there’s no provision for that. It’s only for 16 and above. Surely it can’t be this nonsensical ?

Sorry but you're screwed. This is why travel is so difficult right now.

I think you’re right. I’ve accepted we can’t go away, but the disruption of a second self isolation is a farce. Especially considering if she was 16 she could have the app and it would override it. It’s just ‘Computer says no’, it’s taken about 5 hrs of phone calls to get to this point too Angry
