I cannot believe they can get away with saying this!
Children in my DC classes, scout leaders, DH work colleagues all had positive LFTs and neg Pcrs. Following the advice they went back to school, work, normal life.
Our local rates have shot up in a very short time period to 1800 per 100 000.
Yes SW rates have stayed low through the pandemic but the speed of the rise can only be blamed on the pcr fiasco.
I am livid that they think they can get away with this, with no apologies or explanation.

I'm not sure why this isn't a massive scandal that's on the front of every newspaper and top of all the news websites.

It's almost like there's some sort of cover-up, hush-up operation going on. Imagine.

Itisasecret · 26/10/2021 10:14

It’s still happening as well - SW

TubeOfSmarties · 26/10/2021 10:16

This government doesn't even pretend not to lie. About everything.

It's like the media are complicit with the government (except for a few independent publications) and complicit in the gaslighting lie that covid doesn't matter any more.

Agree with a PP that people will have died as a result of this mistake. I hope the family of someone who does sues the lab.

Also, it's interesting isn't it how mumsnet picked up on this pretty early - lots and lots of threads about people getting postive LFTs and negative PCRs, some then going on to get positive PCRs on postal tests.

There is something almost every day that should be a major scandal. It doesn't get reported because we are living under totalitarianism. Nadine Dorries said that Nick Robinson had "cost the BBC a lot of money" by telling Johnson to stop talking. Ie, they control what it can and can't report with the threat of defunding.

Everyone with an ounce of decency or concern for decency and democracy needs to come together to oust these monsters before it's too late. People of all political leanings. These aren't "normal" Tories. They are a small, corrupt cabal, destroying our economy, our democracy and our way of life.

I know this sounds exaggerated, but it really isn't. it's frightening.

Itisasecret · 26/10/2021 10:25

Not without the usual posters on the data thread mocking and telling said posters they were being ridiculous and it was anecdotal. They trying to claim credit for spotting it early.

Anyway, as I say this is still happening in the SW as of today.

Cornettoninja · 26/10/2021 10:30

What exactly is still happening @Itisasecret? I’m still not clear on exactly why so many test results were wrong.

SonnetForSpring · 26/10/2021 10:31

The government are completely corrupt and untrustworthy. God knows what the country will be like once they are done with it.

Dancerinthedark01 · 26/10/2021 10:32

I would just encourage everyone to think carefully and try to vote for anyone else whenever the opportunity arises. This is a whole other level from ordinary politics.

This is worth repeating. Many times.

Madcats · 26/10/2021 10:37

I'm in the affected area and it certainly was the duff PCRs that caused cases to skyrocket in years 9 and 10 in September and then spread up and down the years to siblings, first, then parents.

It was reported on the local news last night that the lab is STILL processing travel PCRs!

Dancerinthedark01 · 26/10/2021 10:39

I can’t read the news anymore because I know it’s full of lies and complicit with the government - wherever it comes from.

Ridiculous that I come here to find out what’s going on. That’s not reliable either. But it feels more reliable than the newspapers etc now.

Itisasecret · 26/10/2021 10:41

@Cornettoninja

What exactly is still happening *@Itisasecret*? I’m still not clear on exactly why so many test results were wrong.
Bad lab results.

So + LTF, negative PCR, whilst symptomatic and in a household with Covid.

My friend has just ordered a postal PCR as her child is now incredibly poorly. Not before letting him out to his friends houses the past two days mind you. This is the third case I’ve heard of this week in my social circle.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/10/2021 10:44

I’m in the SW and it’s definitely behind the surge. Negative PCR kids went into school and infected loads who then got negative PCR and so on. Schools then said they were following guidance and not their fault. Parents up in arms. My CEV friend caught it as a direct result.

School now says LFT trumps a PCR. If someone in the household has covid the whole household must isolate.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/10/2021 10:45

Part of me wonders if it’s a deliberate attempt to get herd immunity into children.

KrispyKale · 26/10/2021 10:58

It's not deliberate.
It is a scandal.

candycane222 · 26/10/2021 11:27

@itsasecret interesting. Same has happened to my dc. Obviously got Covid (loss of taste etc), 3x lfts +ve, but pcr -ve. Huh.

Cornettoninja · 26/10/2021 12:04

Bad lab results

@Itisasecret thanks but that’s the bit I am clear on Smile what I’m not sure of is the how or why. For example was it down bad set of tests, lab equipment failure/misuse, human error, a data entry issue etc.

For it still to be happening suggests that there’s an identifiable element that is getting ignored.

JanglyBeads · 26/10/2021 12:11

They’re not telling us the actual mechanism @Cornettoninja….

Which they should.

Summerfun54321 · 26/10/2021 12:11

Today I emailed my local MP (south west city), asking her to lobby for either:

  1. An extended half term break
  2. The option for high risk parents to keep their kids off of school
  3. High risk parent’s booster vaccines to be expedited.

The PCR test shit show means there are a large group of high risk parents with dwindling immunity yet to have their booster jabs whilst being expected to send their kids to school next week while the covid rates are at 1,600 per 100k where I am. This is an absolute disaster waiting to happen.

Summerfun54321 · 26/10/2021 12:20

School now says LFT trumps a PCR. If someone in the household has covid the whole household must isolate.

Now that makes sense. Our south west school restarted the covid bubble system but allowed children from households with covid positive parents into school every day. Also, we weren’t told if a covid case was in our child’s bubble, just the school as a whole so no one was being told if their own child was a close contact. Utter chaos.

DoubleShotEspresso · 26/10/2021 12:29

Fully agree OP -Offensive and transparent nonsense.

I can cope with a pandemic, lockdowns, restrictions etc. What I am at the end of my tether with is the constant insults to our intelligence. All these lies just mean trust in this shitshow if a government is at its lowest and yet again the public are left to pay their deadly price.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/10/2021 12:29

We were told “cases” had been confirmed, but no hint as to which classes/year groups.

Now they say they won’t allow children from covid households to come to school. How they monitor this, I don’t know.

I hope things are clearer after half term.

Cornettoninja · 26/10/2021 12:48

@JanglyBeads thanks Smile

I did wonder if I’d missed something. To say it is still happening implies we know what the it is that caused the incorrect results. That’s not to say something isn’t going on but we’re in the dark as far as whether it’s the same issue or not.

noblegiraffe · 26/10/2021 12:54

The lying liars are lying again.

From what I have gathered, they are trying to imply it was a technical failure at the lab and that it is still ok to process travel PCRs there because they use different equipment.

However, if it was a technical failure, it was ALSO a personnel failure because how on earth would anyone even remotely competent not have noticed that the lab was churning out bullshit on a massive scale? Whoever was in charge of the lab and of the quality control should be sacked. Have there been any sackings?

And why didn't PHE notice? It is extremely concerning that it took so long to be officially recognised.

JanglyBeads · 26/10/2021 13:07

And this article says that one senior member of Immensa staff is on secondment to T&T’s technical Dept!
